Vacation, Part 2...

After Amy left on June 6th, Patrick and I drove down to southern New Mexico to tour that part of the state since I didn't have to work that week. We had never been down there to see any of the sites so we took our opportunity.

First we went to visit White Sands National Monument. It was very cool in the hot sort of way. Once we drove into the Monument and climbed up one of the sand dunes all we could see was sand dunes. It was amazing! Definitely something to go see if you are in the area! We also watched a pretty interesting video while we were there telling us about them. If you have a chance to learn about them definitely do!

We also took our chance to sled down the dunes! The gift shop rents sleds out and its a lot of fun. The hard part is walking back up the sand to go down again.

As you can see the sand goes on forever! You can't hear and thing else out there either it is like you are in a different world.
After White Sands we visited a space museum and saw an I max show.

After that we drove to the church camp that my brothers family was at for the week and said hello for a few hours. And then drove on to Carlsbad, where we visited the caverns the next day. Carlsbad Caverns is located about 80 stories below ground and is huge!

And lastly we visited the UFO Museum in Roswell NM and saw a real live alien!

We had a good vacation! and got to see some really cool stuff that we would not have seen if we didn't live in NM. I'm glad we got some time away.
