Vacation, Part 1...

As you know it has been a while since I have blogged, which means I have been very busy and not had time; and then I tried and blogger wasn't working right. Well tonight, I am going to make some time and we will see how caught up I get.

At the very beginning of June, I had about 10 days off. I had taken a weekend off of work because my friend Amy was coming to visit from Idaho; and then I had the next several days off because the family I nanny for went to Disney Land. When we found out they were leaving town we decided to take a mini vacation for our 4 year wedding anniversary during that time. So this post covers the first part of those 10 days off of work.

Amy had never been to Santa Fe, so I showed her all the tourist stuff. When we went to the San Miguel Mission, a 400 year old church, we found volunteers making mud bricks so that they could refurbish part of it that was deteriorating. It was pretty cool. Here there are laying in the sun to dry out.
Then of course we had to go to Bandelier and see the caves, one of my favorites! Good thing we did because it is currently surrounded by the fire that Patrick posted about earlier. I think the caves will make it but we will see about the gift shop/museum/visitors center.

On the way back from Bandelier we pulled over to get a proper picture of Camel Rock. I have seen it many of times but never stopped for a picture. It was worth it.

While Amy was here we had a good time catching up and just hanging out. All of my other Idaho friends should take note and come visit us because we miss you terribly! Thanks for coming Amy!
